8 brilliant display units for children and their treasures

As random as this may seem, my seven-year-old received a display cabinet for Christmas. She's a collector by nature, she loves sets of things and is massively in to small world play. She's currently is obsessed with Djeco Arty Toys (which I also adore). She was storing a lot of these things in little suitcases so a display case for some of her favourite pieces actually made sense. And she was THRILLED. Seriously, thrilled. A whole lot of time has been spent arranging and rearranging her display unit. It's super sweet.

I purchased her a lovely unit from La Redoute in the sale around November time (see the photo above). Sadly, it's not available anymore, but there are so many stylish display cabinets out there for little people for every budget. Just like these...

I am obsessed by these rainbow shelves from the Land of Nod. although we all know our little ones wont keep them quite so styled. They're about £25 each, plus shipping, but there's nothing to stop you buying cheaper shelves and painting them to suit your decor. You'd only need a few taster pots!

I very nearly bought FLISAT the doll’s house/wall shelf from IKEA. It would have been perfect for her small world play and look fab on the wall and it's brilliantly priced at £23. This really is a blank canvas and is asking for a little customisation.

This display offering from Wayfair has clearly been popular - but they have more stock due in early next month. So if this is the one for you, sign up to be notified when it's available. At £65.99 it's beautifully understated with it's clean lines and will really make those things pop!

Inspired by museum-style displays, the Showcase shelves by Umbra are simple in design and let your decorative items take centre stage. Constructed of white painted MDF, the shelves feature a concealed metal mounting bracket for a completely minimal look. Sold as a set of three for £14. You can get this style of shelving anywhere, but I thought this was a pretty good price.

Let your child’s imagination soar with ferm LIVING’s reinterpretation of a classic Funkis House, beautifully crafted from natural plywood. It's just waiting to be inhabited with all their favourite little things. The simple lines and modernist feel of this stylish storage house are sure to be a hit. It's £165 though.

If you fancy a little DIY and have a huge space, this crate shelving idea could look fabulous. I'll be honest and say it's not for me, but as I was browsing the 7 year old declared this was super-cool so here it is! I can't find the original source for this, so if it's yours, let me know and I'll credit.

I am a huge fan of IKEA's Bekvam spice racks (so much so I have a post dedicated to them) so seeing them hold larger treasures and books it pure genius. Pop over to Lay Baby Lay to see more of this awesome nursery.

A cool, crisp combination of smooth, natural birch and modern white; it looks marvellous stacked up precious treasures. I am seriously hankering over these, although I must confess, we don't actually have anywhere to hang them! They're the Clifton Wall Shelves from GLTC and will set you back £115.

So how is it at yours? Do you have collectors? Do you have boxes of things, or have you got the whole display thing going on? Let me know. Links would be great as I am looking for some inspiration!
